Case Study

The VPACH project

One example of a well-managed public-private EV charging model is the VPACH project. Carried out by a consortium of private companies (including Liberty Charge and Virgin Media 02) and five local authorities, VPACH has delivered over 600 public EV charging sockets to communities across the UK.

The project benefitted from Virgin Media’s extensive experience delivering and scaling infrastructure at pace which helped the local authorities overcome some of the logistical challenges they faced along the way. It also saw the deployment of a new geospatial tool developed by the University of Loughborough which helped identify suitable sites for new charge points.

This video takes you through the project and how challenges were overcome along the way. The VPACH project is a model of a public-private partnership to deliver charging infrastructure.
